What does it mean to be a Daughter of the King? It means that we are a cherished member of God’s royal family, given access to the fullness of His love and provisions. There are privileges that come with being a daughter of the King. There are birthrights attached to royalty.
Take a moment and just whisper your name. Go ahead, do it.
Now imagine Him whispering your name. He knows your name. He knew what your name would be while you were still in His thoughts. He knew your name before he called the dry land earth. Ephesians 1:4a says, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.” In Jeremiah 1:5a he tells me, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.” Daughter, you were thought of before the world was ever created.
According to Jeremiah 29:11, He expresses His thoughts towards us, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
We are daughters—an heir of God as found in Romans 8:17a, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” As Daughters of the most High God, we were chosen for greatness according to 1 Peter 2:9, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.“ There are certain standards we are to live by as we represent our royal family. I AM CHOSEN. I AM WHO GOD SAYS THAT I AM.
He lets us know in 2 Corinthians 6:18, “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” And just as any good father, our Heavenly Father feels our hurts and he knows our every need.
Whether we are faced with a misdirected child, loveless marriages, abusive relationships, heartbreaks, disappoints or just some of life’s uncertainties, He is with us to comfort and guide us.
Consider how a natural father feels when his child hurts. I can not imagine what my Heavenly Father feels when His daughters are hurting.
We can find comfort in God during our most difficult times. If we put our trust Him, he has promised to keep us. He is never lack of His promises. He is a wakeful watchful keeper: he is never weary; not only does he not sleep, but he does not so much as slumber. He not only protects those whom he is the keeper of, but he refreshes us: He is our shade…Psalm 91:1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” He will keep and preserve us.
Once we have been washed by the blood of the Lamb and receive His Spirit our DNA changes. The Holy Spirit produces this new birth in our lives. In 1 John 4:4 it says, Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
